Bayern Munich vs Aek Athens Predictions

It’s not been a stellar season for Bayern Munich, as they are struggling to match Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Their crisis has been slightly overblown, as they are only four points off the top as we start off November. They’re also set to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League with ease. However, the German champions slipped up again at the weekend, drawing 1-1 with Freiburg. Will they drop more points when Greek side AEK Athens visit the Allianz on Wednesday night?

Bayern were comfortable 2-0 winners in the first clash with AEK, and that’s brought them onto seven points. They’re level with Ajax at the half-way point in this group, only narrowly behind the Dutch side on goal difference. They’ll be aiming to set that right here, as they play their most straightforward match of the group. Will they match Ajax’s 3-0 win over the Greek side? The hosts are heavy favourites, and they’re expected to rack up the goals on Tuesday.

AEK won’t be expecting much, given that they’ve conceded twice in every game so far. They’ve lost all three games in this group, and their chances of making the last 16 are basically over. They’re set for an early exit from Europe, but can they make things difficult for the German champions? The visitors are unbeaten in four games on the road, while they didn’t lose either of their away trips in qualifying. Can they step up to cause a shock at the Allianz?

Bayern are on their worst run of home form since 2001, as they’ve failed to win their last four games at their own ground. We can’t see their poor form continuing, with AEK looking out of their depth in this group. Bayern should claim a victory in this clash, but their recent struggles aren’t likely to disappear entirely. Goals have been a real problem for the Bavarians, who have scored three times in their last four home matches. Given those issues, we can’t see them racking up a big win.

Bayern haven’t scored more than twice in Europe this season. They have also managed just six goals across their last six European games, so we’re backing a low scoring game here. We’re backing a Bayern win and under 3.5 goals, while we expect them to repeat their 2-0 win from the previous encounter.
