Under 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than four goals have been scored in three of Stuttgart’s last four home games and also in three of Bayern Munich’s last five matches. Bayern need to sort their leaky defence out ahead of the trip to Real Madrid and an increased focus on staying solid is expected.

Stuttgart 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in eight of Bayern’s last 10 Bundesliga games, during which time they have conceded multiple goals on five occasions. Stuttgart regularly score more than once at home and can edge a close contest 2-1.

Deniz Undav To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Deniz Undav has scored in four of Stuttgart’s last five matches to reach 19 goals in all competitions, He still trails Serhou Guirassy’s season tally, but the Guinean ace has failed to register in back-to-back games.

Tuchel could tinker ahead of Madrid match

Thomas Tuchel could use Saturday’s trip to Stuttgart as a tune-up for his side’s looming Champions League second leg in Madrid, in which case there could be fewer goals than expected.

With their Bundesliga title defence long since over and a five-point cushion to the third-placed Swabians, there is no need for Bayern to roll out all their big guns at MHPArena.

But the clash does give them a chance to implement the use of a deeper defensive block that most analysts would serve them well at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Undav may be the pick of Stuttgart strikers

Bayern’s lack of pace in central areas was exploited by Real Madrid on Tuesday and the best way to alleviate that problem outside the transfer window is to set the team up in a low block.

Stuttgart’s sensational strike duo of Serhou Guirassy and Deniz Undav will be licking their lips at the chances the outgoing champions have been allowing of late. Both forwards will be a threat in this fixture, but the on-loan Brighton hitman is edging into better goalscoring touch with four in his last five while Guirassy has drawn a blank in his last two.

Stuttgart are just better than evens to triumph, which they may well do against a team that will have more than half an eye on the next match. But Sebastian Hoeness’ side have failed to win two of their last four at home and three of their last five overall, so a goals bet makes more sense.
