Bayern Munich to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Bayern are in a rich vein of scoring form, having already netted 14 goals in three league games, and can prevail in a high-scoring encounter. It is worth remembering that Chelsea conceded in nine of their 15 Conference League games last season despite mixing it with lesser opponents.

      6/5odds when tipped

      Bayern Munich 3-1

      Reason for tip

A 3-1 win could be the most appealing bet for correct-score punters given that Bayern have scored at least three goals in their last four competitive matches.

      Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Predictions

      • All five of Bayern’s competitive games this season have featured three or more goals
      • Bayern have scored at least three goals in their last four competitive matches
      • Chelsea have conceded the first goal in each of their last two away games

Bayern should be too hot to handle

Chelsea return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2022–23 season, but the Club World Cup winners will be believing that they can cope with the rise in calibre of opposition.

The Blues eased to glory in last season’s Conference League, routing Real Betis 4-1 in the final, and they defeated Champions League winners Paris St-Germain 3-0 in July’s Cup World Cup final to show their capabilities on a going day.

However, that success came on the back of a long, hard season and their opening test in the league phase of the competition is a tricky one as they travel to a battle-hardened Bayern, who have made a blistering start in the Bundesliga.

Bayern made the quarter-final of last season’s Champions League, losing to Inter following a last-16 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, but they finished only 12th in the league standings and will be keen to secure a place in that elusive top eight.

The Bavarians are a perfect three from three in the German top-flight, having racked up 14 goals, and they may simply have too much firepower for a Chelsea side that are still working out their strongest XI after a summer overhaul.

Enzo Maresca’s men have started the Premier League campaign with two wins and two draws, with them conceding an injury-time equaliser to share the spoils in a four-goal thriller at Brentford on Saturday.

The Blues still look a work in progress and they will be desperate to have Cole Palmer fully fit, with their talisman having only a 35-minute cameo in that draw with Brentford but scoring to level things at 1-1.

      Bavarians boast the firepower

Defensively there is a sense that Chelsea can be got at and that doesn’t bode well against this rampant Bayern attack spearheaded by Harry Kane with Michael Olise and Luis Diaz in support.

Vincent Kompany’s side have beaten Leipzig 6-0 and Hamburg 5-0 at home in the league and in last season’s Champions League at the Allianz Arena they put nine past Dinamo Zagreb as well as overcoming PSG, Benfica and Leverkusen.

So Bayern, in a rich vein of scoring form, can prevail in a high-scoring encounter and it is worth remembering that Chelsea conceded in nine of their 15 Conference League games last season despite mixing it with lesser opponents.

A 3-1 win could be the most appealing bet for correct-score punters given that Bayern have scored at least three goals in their last four competitive matches.
