Bayern to deliver another goalfest

Both teams’ games have featured plenty of goals of late and, with Cologne struggling at the back this season, Saturday’s clash between Bayern Munich and Cologne at the Allianz Arena should be no different. Back over 2.5 goals.

Bayern Munich are Bundesliga champions, having won 27 of their 33 games this season, while Cologne are 14th with just seven wins.

Bayern Munich have enjoyed four successive Bundesliga wins over Cologne, and last suffered a home defeat to Augsburg in January. Cologne are struggling to find a win, having gone four games without recording a victory, and they have recorded only one victory in their last ten games in the league.

Cologne lost 3-1 to Heidenheim last weekend in their last Bundesliga outing, keeping up their recent pattern of games with over 2.5 goals. Marius Bulter scored for Cologne, who had been priced as 10/11 favourites to win, but have now failed to win any of the three games in which they have been odds-on this season. They had 66.3% possession, more of the ball than in any Bundesliga game they’ve played this season.

The hosts look frail defensively. Bayern Munich have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last six Bundesliga games and have conceded in 11 of their last 13 home matches.

Both teams come into this game in good goalscoring form. Bayern have scored three or more goals in 11 of their last 13 league games, while Cologne have scored in nine games in a row.

Plenty of the hosts’ recent games have gone over the goals, with over 2.5 goals being a winner in 30 of Bayern Munich’s last 31 Bundesliga home games. They have had three goals or more in all of their 16 home games.

A 3-1 home win for Bayern Munich is an appealing correct-score bet. Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in 15 of Cologne’s 33 Bundesliga games this season, and Bayern have beaten them by at least two goals in their last two meetings.
