Belgrano vs Tigre Predictions
Tuesday’s Superliga Argentine action features a crunch clash between Belgrano and Tigre. The hosts will be looking to use their home advantage to full effect in what is a huge game in the battle to avoid the drop.
Having finished just outside the Copa Sudamericana spots last season, Belgrano had given themselves a reasonable chance of avoiding relegation this season but La B are now struggling once again. Pablo Lavallén’s surprise exit as boss at the end of last season has hit the side hard and they’ve yet to really convince this campaign under Lucas Bernardi or current boss Diego Osella.
Currently just inside the relegation zone on the average points table and having taken just 12 points from 14 matches so far this season, Belgrano need to find improvement fast and whilst a raft of additions are expected to brought in during the upcoming transfer window, those in the squad now know they simply have to win Tuesday’s game, something they can still be fairly confident in doing given they’re relatively strong on home turf. .
Meanwhile, visiting Tigre’s situation is a far more alarming one and the side are all but certain to be playing B Nacional football next campaign. Rooted to the bottom of the average points table with a huge gap to make up, Los Matadores need to somehow put together a sustained run of form to save themselves; something that looks unlikely given they’ve taken just 14 points from as many games so far.
Having lost 3 of their last 4 matches, whilst letting in a big 10 goals, confidence is very low in Tigre ranks and their wretched away form has their prospects looking all the more bleaker in Cordoba on Tuesday. Indeed, the visitors have taken just 1 point from their last 5 Superliga trips and having conceded an average of 2.2 goals a game over said fixtures, it’s clear to see why.
Ultimately, whilst they’re hardly covering themselves in glory at the moment, Belgrano are historically a very difficult team to play against at the Estadio Gigante de Alberdi due to the big crowds they draw and having lost just 3 of their last 21 home league matches, they’re not performing too badly on home soil despite their struggles.
Having lost just 1 of their last 6 home games against Tigre, winning 3 times in the process, we really like the look of backing Belgrano to win this one. Tigre have been terrible on the road for quite some time now and it’s hard to have any faith in them securing a result and we think Belgrano will have a bit too much for them, with a 2-0 home win on the cards.
