      Tip Reasoning

Birmingham are enjoying an excellent season so far and had won 4 Championship games in a row prior to last weekend’s defeat at Hull. A 2-0 loss away to one of the promotion favourites is unlikely to have dented their confidence too much and they are 1 point off 2nd place coming into this game in a congested top six.

Wolves narrowly missed out on a top six finish last term but it’s hard to see them getting as close this year. They’ve lost their last 3 Championship matches, all by 2 goal margins and two of which were at home. Their defensive problems from the early weeks of the season seem to have returned and they may struggle to cope with a Birmingham side, who have been surprisingly impressive going forward with goals coming from all over the pitch.

Given the contrasting starts these sides have made and the form coming into the game, Birmingham look great value with home advantage at 8/5 to win this one. They took 4 points off their neighbours last season despite finishing lower in the league and that included a 2-1 win at St Andrews.

Both Kenny Jackett and the Wolves fans must be frustrated with watching their side this term. There have been some really positive results such as back-to-back 3-0 wins over Fulham and Huddersfield when things seemed to be working well at both ends of the pitch.

However they’ve lost their way since then but they appeared to be on their way towards 3 points last time out at home to Middlesbrough only to suffer a late capitulation, conceding 3 times in the final 20 minutes to lose 3-1.

Birmingham have been consistently solid and have kept clean sheets in 3 of their last 5 games. They are certainly a side who you can rely for a solid performance and with loud home backing they look good value at 12/1 to win this 2-0.
