Birmingham’s play-off dream is dying it would seem after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at struggling Charlton at the weekend. They are now 8 points off the top six but still have a game in hand and surely will need to win this along with almost all their remaining games to have a chance. They are winless in 4 Championship outings though and have only won 2 of the last 10 so they’re not in the sort of form that suggests they could really topple one of the strongest sides in the league although they did beat Hull 1-0 at home last month.

Brighton are all but guaranteed a play-off place but could really have done with a win rather than the 2-2 draw they got when they hosted leaders Burnley on Saturday. They are in 3rd place, 4 points behind the Clarets and 1 behind Middlesbrough although they’ve played a game more. It is just 1 defeat in 13 for Chris Hughton’s men though so they will head to St Andrews full of confidence and certainly with 3 points on their mind.

They might just get them too. Birmingham have run out of steam somewhat it would seem but have still had a great season that has defied all realistic expectations. They have still been doing pretty well at home though and have won 6 of their last 8 matches at St Andrews in the league but Brighton have only lost twice in 18 away matches this season and look the more likely victors here and backing Brighton 0.0 Asian Handicap at 1.700 may be the way to go and offers some security given no side has drawn more games this season than the Seagulls.
