Fulham and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Fulham have made a strong start to the season and should win this – they have triumphed in each of their last five meetings with Birmingham – but Blues have scored regularly this term and can net against what could be a much-changed Cottagers’ backline.

Fulham 2-1

Reason for tip

Fulham beat Leicester 2-1 in the Premier League last time out and, if they went full strength against Birmingham, they should win by a greater margin than that. However, Marco Silva is likely to make changes to his team and they may have to settle for replicating Saturday’s result.

Birmingham vs Fulham Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in three of Birmingham’s four matches this season
  • Fulham have won the last five meetings between the two sides
  • The Cottagers have kept just one clean-sheet across their last seven competitive games

Cottagers should avoid cup upset

Fulham have started the new season strongly, as despite being edged out in their Premier League opener at Manchester United, they responded with a 2-1 home success over Leicester and that victory could easily have been by a more convincing margin.

The Cottagers will now expect to follow up on that success when they visit League One Birmingham, who have also started the season well, picking up three wins and a draw from their four games across league and cup.

Chris Davies’ Blues have scored in all four of those matches and they can extend that record on Tuesday, particularly if visiting head coach Marco Silva opts to make changes to his team, although even a much-altered Fulham line-up should have enough to secure the victory.

Fulham struggling for clean-sheets

Birmingham’s hopes of getting on the scoresheet at St Andrew’s are boosted due to Fulham’s lack of recent clean-sheets – the Cottagers have kept just one across their last seven competitive games.

However, Birmingham themselves have just one clean-sheet this season and, against Premier League quality, they will surely struggle to keep Fulham at bay.

Fulham have won the last five meetings between these two sides, racking up 4-1 and 6-2 successes across the two most recent encounters. This one may not be quite as emphatic but the visitors can replicate what they produced against Leicester by claiming a 2-1 success.
