Cambridge United vs Swindon Predictions

Swindon Town will travel to Cambridge where they will be hosted by 8th-placed Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium. Can the home side break into the promotion places?

Cambridge United go into week 10 of League Two on the back of a couple of important wins. Their most recent outing was a convincing 4-0 thrashing of Mansfield Town away from home. It was a tight game that saw no goals until Jack Roles opened the scoring for United in the 74th minute.

The hosts then collapsed, as Sam Smith, George Maris and Reggie Lambe scored for Cambridge in the final minutes of the game, winning all 3 points and leaving a mark on their opponents. It was a much-needed win for Colin Calderwood’s side, as it was their second win in a row after going on a 3-game losing streak. United also defeated a high-flying Crewe Alexandra, solidifying their claim to fight for promotion this season.

Swindon Town is also fighting to make it to League One and they sit further up the table in 4th place and on 17 points. The Robins had put together a good run of games before losing their unbeaten streak last week with a 3-0 loss at home to Colchester United.

Richie Wellens’ side dominated their opponents in the opening 45 minutes, that was until the visitors scored on the brink of half-time to break the deadlock. Colchester doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half, trebling their lead with 15 minutes to go and sealing all 3 points.

Despite this setback, Swindon is still doing well enough to consider their latest defeat as a simple glitch in the matrix. Their 3 consecutive wins before hosting Colchester will be more than enough to keep them going.

The sides’ point tally is virtually the same, with just 3 separating them, although they are 4 places away from each other. Nonetheless, Cambridge United are in good form and will be full of confidence after winning their last 2 games.

However, the U’s home record has been almost terrible, winning just once in their last 5 games at the Abbey Stadium, with 2 defeats and draws as well. Swindon Town’s away form has been decent, failing to lose any of their last 3 trips away from home, although conceding at least once in all of them. We’re going to back the Robbins to take all 3 points here and for both teams to score, with a final result of 2-1 to the visitors.
