Brilliant Blackburn to keep pressure on the top two

After registering a club record 7-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham, no one could have expected them to close a yawning gap to them to be within touching distance of the promotion chasers in this final game of 2021.

A major contributing factor to Blackburn’s success is Ben Brereton Diaz, who has now scored more goals (19) in one season since his name change than in his five Championship campaigns prior. As such, I predict that he can make it 20 goals for the season here.

Given Blackburn’s imperious form, it is impossible to ignore the value price about them to beat a Barnsley side who have been consistently poor this term.

Yet another body blow for Barnsley

Barnsley have looked like a side in disarray since Valerian Ismael left for West Brom this term. They have transformed from a top-six side to relegation fodder in just a few short months and facing the most in-form side in the division is not ideal when you are winless in six games.

Compounding matters for Barnsley is the fact that they failed to win any of their last 13 away league games, while conceding at least twice in five of their last six competitive visits to Blackburn. Consequently, another long afternoon is expected for the tykes.

Considering the contrasting form of these sides, I predict an entertaining 3-0 home victory for a side who are surprisingly gunning for a promotion to end a decade long exile from the top-flight!
