Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester United Predictions
Blackburn Rovers’ difficult season continued in midweek with a 2-1 loss at Sheffield Wednesday, leaving them 23rd in the Championship with a two point margin to make up before they can exit the drop zone.
This defeat makes it two wins, two draws, and three defeats in their last seven outings in all competitions, and despite their decent FA Cup run so far they know that surviving in the Championship is incredibly important.
Unfortunately for Blackburn they can’t even fall back on their form at Ewood Park. They have only won three of their last eight matches at home, drawing two and losing three to make for a rather miserable run in front of their home fans.
Manchester United is always a huge game for Blackburn Rovers fans, and it’s unfortunate for them that they are coming up against a visiting side in good form at the moment. They beat St Etienne 3-0 at Old Trafford on Thursday so all but wrapped up their Europa League tie in the first leg.
This victory, driven by the hat-trick of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, makes it four wins from their last five games in all competitions, and they have scored an impressive 12 goals in this run. They have only lost one of their last 23 games in all competitions.
13 of their last 17 matches have ended in victory, and even away from home they have managed six wins, two draws, and one defeat from their last nine games. This takes them to within two points of the Premier League top four and to the League Cup Final, but the defence of their FA Cup will surely be a high priority as well.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to play this weekend, meaning the in form Anthony Martial will probably play through the middle as he did against Wigan. He has looked in fine form recently and given the chance to impress up front I think odds of 5/4 for him to score anytime look good value for our goalscorer predictions.
Manchester United have been really impressive on the road recently, with four of their last seven in all competitions being comfortable margins of victory. Blackburn Rovers have conceded nine goals in their last six home matches as well, and with the visitors being so good defensively, backing a Manchester United -1.5 Asian Handicap at 1.960 looks a good choice. I’m going for a 3-0 correct score predictions at 15/2 as well.
