Blackburn Rovers vs West Ham Predictions

      Reasons for Betting Tips

Obviously the difference in league’s is a factor in this one. Blackburn are struggling down in 18th in the Championship whilst West Ham find themselves challenging for a Europa League qualification position in the Premier League.

The Hammers may not be in the best of form, but they have always had a love affair with the FA Cup and they have probed incredibly difficult to beat so far this season. They have only lost four of their last 27 matches in all competitions, and although they have struggled to win on occasion I think the talents of Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet will torment the Blackburn Rovers defence.

Blackburn Rovers have hit a bit of a purple patch in recent weeks but with them a poor run of form always looks to be just around the corner. They were beaten at home by Hull a couple of weeks ago, and all of their three recent wins have been against out of form or lower league opposition. These are their only three wins in their last 12 outings, and none of them have been particularly impressive when you take into account the talents of their opposition.

This makes a West Ham win look like a good bet, but it is the FA Cup after all. I’m certainly not expecting them to lose though. An efficient 2-0 win also looks to be on the cards as West Ham don’t tend to continue pushing for goals when the game is won and their defence is very solid.

      Recent Form

      All competitions; most recent first.

      Blackburn Rovers: WLDWDWL

      West Ham: DWLWDDL

      Head to Head

These two sides last met in the 2010/11 Premier League season, and the points have been shared between Blackburn and West Ham in each of their last five meetings. Before that it was West Ham who had the better of the two teams, with six consecutive victories stretching their unbeaten streak against Blackburn Rovers to over ten years.

      Statistics

West Ham haven’t lost to Blackburn in over ten years and have picked up as many points away from home this season as they have at Upton Park. Blackburn have only been marginally better at Ewood Park too, with 56% of their points coming at home.

      Team News

Blackburn – Danny Graham and Matt Grimes are ineligible to play due to being cup tied, but as far as injuries are concerned there is nothing for the hosts to be worried about.

West Ham – New signing Sam Byram is ineligible to play in the FA Cup, so he will join strikers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho on the sidelines. Also injured are Cheikh Kouyate, James Tomkins, Winston Reid, and Carl Jenkinson. On the plus side, Manuel Lanzini could return to action following his injury layoff.
