Rovers to Edge Out Big-Spending Blues

Blackburn finished last season with back-to-back wins at Ewood Park and they appeal as a value bet against big-spending Birmingham.

Blackburn finished seventh in the Championship, missing out on the playoffs by two points, while the Blues dominated in League One, breaking the all-time EFL points record with 111 points.

Valerien Ismael’s Rovers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to West Brom last weekend, but they were a better side on their own patch last season, claiming 40 of their 66 points at Ewood Park, including a triumph over promoted Leeds.

They were priced as 10/3 outsiders against West Brom, and are underdogs against Birmingham, but Chris Davies’s visitors will need to create more opportunities than they managed in last Friday’s 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich.

A narrow 1-0 win for Blackburn appeals as the correct score. Four of their last six Championship games and Birmingham’s last four have had fewer than three goals, while the hosts recorded seven 1-0 wins in the league last season.
