      Blackpool vs AFC Wimbledon Predictions

Blackpool play host to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon, as they look to continue their winning run. The visitors will be hoping to register a first win in four, though they are unbeaten in two, so it’s not all bad for the Dons.

As they sit just a point outside of the coveted top six, Blackpool are enjoying a promising campaign under the stewardship of Simon Grayson. The Seasiders approach this fixture having won each of their last three, so confidence in the home dressing room is unlikely to be in short supply.

When playing at home this season, Blackpool haven’t always been at their best, but the positives have certainly outweighed the negatives, as they’ve won four, drawn two and lost two. As only one clean sheet suggests, keeping teams out has been a bit of a problem for Grayson’s men, but they’ve done well at the other end, generally creating more than they’ve conceded, scoring eight in their last four league games at Bloomfield Road.

While Blackpool have been steady at home, Wimbledon have had a tough time of it on their travels. The Dons, who following the departure of Wally Downes are under the temporary rule of Glyn Hodges, have won just one of their eight travelling fixtures in League 1 this term. They’ve lost seven of the other eight. No team in the entire division has accumulated fewer travelling points than Sunday’s visitors.

The main issue for the Dons is that they’re too easy to score against. Not only do they allow teams to create lots, but they’ve also offered next to no last line of resistance, shipping 16 goals on the road, conceding two or more in six out of eight. They’re also yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels.

Given Wimbledon’s away-day antics this term, this is a big opportunity for the hosts to put three points on the board. Punters can profit by backing ‘Blackpool to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’. At least two goals have been scored in 100% of Blackpool’s home games, not to mention in seven out of eight Wimbledon away matches. The hosts haven’t been amazing at the back, but their efforts have been nowhere near as bad as Wimbledon’s, while their attacking efforts also stand out more than those of the visiting side.

In the ‘Correct Score’ market, a 2-1 home win appeals. Wimbledon’s defensive record makes for poor reading, so the hosts, who scored four goals last time out in League One and who’ve notched an average of two per game in their last four are backed to do some damage. However, given their own defensive antics and the fact that Wimbledon have got on the scoresheet in all but one of their away losses this term, a home clean sheet doesn’t make too much appeal.
