Boavista vs Estoril Predictions

Chequered Ones’ finishing the key to halting Estoril charge 

Boavista have been ruthlessly efficient in scoring goals this season and had been pretty good at keeping them out of their net until Benfica put three past them last weekend.

A much-changed line-up got back on track with a 2-1 Taca de Liga win at Pacos Ferreira in midweek and Boavista next go up against one of the best away teams in Portugal when Estoril visit the Estadio do Bessa on Monday night.

The Canaries boast a 100 per cent record on their travels from wins over Arouca, Pacos Ferreira and Tondela.

Bruno Pinheiro’s men have only been shut out twice so far this season, and both times they were at home, and their early elimination from the Taca gives them a few days extra rest than the Chequered Ones.

That could be a decisive factor in the outcome of the game, but Estoril were a bit fortunate to beat Tondela last week and we feel Boavista could nick a 1-0 win in this.

The most prudent selection, based on the stats of both teams, has to be that both teams do not score on Monday.

Estoril’s ability to counter-attack could be limited if Boavista elect to play as patiently as they have done before this season, which has seen them come on strong in the second halves.

With 70% of Estoril’s away matches since January having also seen one team or the other keep a clean sheet, we will put our money on one of these teams ending up with a zero next to their name on the Bessa scoreboard.
