Boca Juniors vs Independiente Predictions
- Boca have lost just 1 of their 8 Superliga home games this season, winning 4 times in the process.
- Boca have won their last 3 home games against Independiente.
- Independiente have lost their 3 Superliga matches, conceding an average of 2 goals a game in the process.
Boca gunning for home win
There’s a sense of optimism around Boca Juniors heading into 2020. There’s been a shakeup of the club’s hierarchy, including the legendary Juan Roman Riquelme coming in as vice-president and with the popular Miguel Angel Russo back as boss, fans are hopeful of a successful year both domestically and on the continental front.
As far as the Superliga goes, Boca are in a reasonably strong position, coming into this weekend’s action in 3rd place and just 1 point behind leaders and arch rivals River. Nonetheless, they need to get off to strong start if they are to regain their domestic crown and having lost just once at home all season in the league, confidence can be high into Monday’s fixture.
Independiente desperate for improvement
Meanwhile, the campaign has been a miserable one for Independiente thus far and El Rojo simply aren’t meeting expectations. Sebastián Beccacece’s spell in charge was not a successful one and it’s now up to new manager Lucas Pusineri to pick up the pieces he’s left behind.
Down in 15th, Indpendiente are nowhere near where they want to be and having lost more games than they’ve won over their 16 Superliga matches, it’s not hard to see why they are struggling. Having also lost their last 3 trips to La Bombonera, the visitors couldn’t have asked for a harder start to 2020 and their prospects look bleak heading into the game.
A comfortable Boca win is expected
Ultimately, there only looks like being one winner in this local derby and that’s Boca. Man for man, they are stronger than Independiente in all areas of the pitch and are the only side that come into the game with any sort of confidence or momentum behind them.
All things considered, backing a home win looks like a good way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do with maximum confidence. Independiente have lost their last 3 league matches whilst conceding an average of 2 goals a game and we think they’ll continue that theme here; with a 2-0 home win well on the cards.
