Bochum to kick on after winter break?

After winning Bundesliga II last season, Bochum have not had the worst of returns to the top flight and their form at home soil remains solid.

Of the 20 points they have picked up so far, 14 have been collected at Vonovia Ruhrstadion, including impressive wins over Frankfurt and Hoffenheim.

They are yet to lose a home game to a side below them in the table – Wolfsburg are, albeit on goal difference – and having gone winless in three before the winter break, they have a great chance of returning to form in this outing.

Wolfsburg struggling

That winter break could not have come at a better time for Wolfsburg, who have lost seven games in a row and eight of their last nine, a run which has seen them slip to just four points above the relegation zone.

Florian Kohfeldt’s side are, surprisingly, better on the road compared to at home, but they come into this clash having lost their last three ties without scoring.

They need to drastically turn their form around, and perhaps the three week interlude will have done them the world of good, but the same could be said of Bochum.

I predict the hosts will get a much needed victory, selecting 2-0 as a correct score.
