Bologna vs Lazio Predictions
- Lazio have already beaten Bologna twice this season – last doing so in the Coppa Italia in January.
- The Biancocelesti have won four of their last six games, keeping five clean sheets during that run.
- Bologna were beaten 1-0 by Torino last time out.
Can Lazio pass tough Rossoblu test?
Lazio recorded one of the best results of the Serie A season last week, as Matias Vecino’s rasping long-range strike gave them a 1-0 win over leaders Napoli, lifting them to third in the table. Next time out, they go to a Bologna side who saw their coach Thiago Motta named Manager of the Month for February, though they were brought back down to earth by a defeat at Torino last time out. While Lazio are sure to be tested, they are favoured to strengthen their top-four bid.
Lazio suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa Conference League last-16 tie on Thursday, though they were perhaps unfortunate and Maurizio Sarri did make a handful of changes. The Biancocelesti have now won four of their last six games in all competitions, keeping five clean sheets during that run. Only Napoli (16) have now conceded fewer than their 19 goals against in Serie A this term – that record will be vital to their hopes of Champions League qualification.
Bologna have also won four of their last six matches, though their two defeats in that run – at Torino last week and away at Monza in early February – perhaps showed their limitations. At home, Motta’s men have been inconsistent, winning two of their last five, and Lazio have already beaten Bologna twice this term. Having downed them 2-1 on Serie A’s opening day in Rome, Sarri’s men knocked the Rossoblu out of the Coppa Italia in January.
Solid Biancocelesti worth backing
With Lazio possessing a fine defensive record and shutting out the champions-elect on their own turf in their last Serie A game, backing them for victory at a very generous price looks appealing, though Bologna are likely to keep things close.
Lazio have won seven of their 12 away league games this season, averaging a league-low 0.58 goals against per game on the road. With that in mind, a 1-0 away win could offer correct score value.
