Lecce to falter once more

Bologna should be backed to beat Lecce at home in Serie A on Sunday. The visitors have lost eight of their last ten away games and Vincenzo Italiano’s side can take advantage.

Bologna are eight places above Lecce in the table, with the two sides separated by 18 points. Lecce are 18th having won seven, drawn six and lost 18 of their 31 games this season, while Bologna are eighth with 13 wins, six draws and 12 defeats.

Bologna kept up their recent winning trend with a 2-1 victory over Cremonese last weekend, and justified their position as favourites at 21/20. Joao Mario struck first in the third minute, with Jonathan Rowe also netting.

Bologna have kept out Lecce in three of their last four Serie A head-to-heads.

Bologna are on a roll. They have been winners in five of their last seven Serie A games.

They will be optimistic of finding the net, having scored an average of two goals a game in their eight Serie A games against teams in the bottom five this season. They have also averaged two goals a game in their three home games against such sides.

Lecce are out of form, and backing their opponents during their current run of five defeats in six Serie A games would have resulted in a profit of 1.29 units.

The goals are not flowing for the visiting attack. Lecce have lost their last two Serie A games to nil and have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just 10 goals in 15 games – an average of 0.67 goals a game on the road.

Lecce’s struggles at the back are a major concern. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 Serie A games, going six matches without a shutout. Their last clean sheet was against Cagliari in February.

Bologna may be able to edge out Lecce in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. BTTS was a winning bet by half time when these two sides last met in Serie A in September, and Bologna have won five times of their last seven league games by the odd goal. Lecce have been beaten by a single goal in two of their last three matches.
