Bologna vs Lecce Predictions
- Bologna have seen both teams score in five of their last seven league games, and in four of their last five home Serie A matches.
- Lecce, meanwhile, have seen goals at both ends in seven of their last eight games, including each of their last five.
- Only four Serie A teams have conceded more than the 17 goals shipped by Bologna this season, while Lecce are yet to keep a clean sheet in 2022-23.
Six-pointer awaits Bologna and Lecce
Just one point and one place separate Bologna and Lecce in the early-season Serie A standings, with both sides looking likely to be scrapping it out in the division’s lower reaches come next May. Bologna and Lecce have managed just two wins between them in league action this term, which may lead punters to search for value on alternative markets; thankfully, both defences will likely co-operate with those who fancy both teams to score.
Indeed, Bologna have seen both teams net in five of their last seven Serie A matches, the exceptions being shutout defeats to Empoli and Juventus, and Thiago Motta’s men are yet to keep a clean sheet of their own in league action this season. Though Motta oversaw his first win as Cagliari were vanquished in the Coppa Italia last week, a record of eight goals conceded in his four league games at the helm does not suggest defensive improvements have been made by the Rossoblu.
Meanwhile, Lecce have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their 10 outings since returning to Serie A at the end of last season. Marco Baroni’s men have conceded in drips and drabs; only eight top-flight sides have conceded fewer than their 12 goals against this term, but both teams have scored in seven of their last eight matches, including each of their last five.
Both teams likely to net
Given Bologna and Lecce’s desperate need for points, a close and competitive affair is expected on Sunday, and the absence of a clear favourite makes backing both teams to score – or perhaps more accurately, both defences to concede – a prudent play.
Meanwhile, Lecce have recorded a league-high five draws this season, and Bologna have managed four stalemates of their own. A 1-1 draw could, then, represent a decent correct score play.
