Bolton vs Crystal Palace Predictions

Bolton’s romp towards the top of League One was halted a little on Monday as they only found a draw away to Coventry City, but they are still only three points off Sheffield United and look more than capable of taking the trophy and making a swift return to the Championship.

This draw made it seven wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last nine outings in all competitions, but at home it gets even better for them. They have won ten matches on the bounce at the Macron Stadium and have looked excellent at times.

Crystal Palace, on the other hand, have just been served misery upon misery recently. The introduction of Sam Allarcye hasn’t stopped them leaking goals at an alarming rate, and their 2-1 defeat at home to the equally poor Swansea made it four defeats and two draws in their last six matches.

Their shock 3-0 win over Southampton at the start of December makes it one win from their last 14 matches in all competitions, with ten of those games ending in defeat. They have picked up just two clean sheets in the entire season as well, so it’s not looking good for them at the moment.

Away from home it doesn’t get any prettier. They have lost four of their last six and have won just twice this season. They have conceded in every single one of these matches and have shipped 24 goals on the road in total. In fairness to them, they have scored in eight of these 11 matches too, so it’s largely their defence letting them down.

Things have recently managed to get even worse for them. Christian Benteke is expected to miss out with an injury and they have lost Wilfried Zaha and Bakary Sako to the African Cup of Nations. This, on top of all their existing injury problems, is the last thing they needed.

This should all give Bolton a very good chance on Saturday, and I definitely expect them to find the score-sheet. The person we expect to be on the end of that goal is Zach Clough. He has notched eight goals so far this season and looks good value to score anytime at 11/5. I don’t think Bolton will keep a clean sheet against the impressive attacks of Crystal Palace, so odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score is what I’m going for, alongside a 2-1 win for the hosts at 12/1 for my correct score predictions.
