Tip Reasoning

  • Ipswich are unbeaten in their last four league matches
  • Bolton have lost their last four in all competitions
  • Bolton have won just two of their last 12 league games

Ipswich firmly on the up

Having followed League one for some time now, it feels like it pays to back sides that have that feel-good factor about them. Ipswich Town, since Kieran McKenna took charge, are a team that gives off that exact feeling. A 1-0 win against promotion chasing Wycombe was followed by a demolition job at hapless Gillingham last weekend.

Ipswich haven’t lost any of their last four league matches and aside from Gillingham, the rest of their form ranks very highly. Draws against Wigan and Sunderland were followed by the afore mentioned 1-0 victory against Wycombe, all of whom occupy spots in League One’s top four. They are very much a team going in the right direction.

The Trotters stuck in a rut

The 1-0 defeat away to League Two Hartlepool in the EFL Trophy rounded off what has been a truly awful last month for Ian Evatt’s Bolton side. Prior to their visit to Victoria Park, they had lost to Rotherham, Accrington, and Fleetwood in the league. These four defeats saw The Trotters find the net on only one occasion.

To create a bleaker picture for Bolton fans, their side have only won two of their last twelve league matches. Those two victories came against Crewe and Doncaster, both of whom look destined for the drop. This run has put pay to their good start to the season and sees Ian Evatt’s men sitting in 17th place perched just three points above the drop.

Bolton in stark contrast to Ipswich are a team very much going in the wrong direction and have their work cut out on Saturday against a fully fired up Ipswich side. I expect The Tractor Boys to take all the beating and they rank as a very confident selection. The correct score prediction reflects my confidence in the outright play, I’ll take a chance on 3-0 Ipswich.
