Botafogo come into this game in 13th place and are in decent form but they are still only 2 points above the relegation zone. They’ve won 3 of their last 4 games in all competitions and that includes a couple of excellent league wins. They beat leaders Palmeiras 3-1 in their most recent home game and a last minute strike from Sassá gave them a massive 1-0 win at Sao Paulo last time out. They are unbeaten in 7 games at home now so certainly they are showing enough to suggest they will beat the drop.

The same could be said of Sport Recife who were scraping around in the bottom four for much of the early part of this season. However they’ve  rediscovered some of the form that fired them into the top six last time around. They’ve won 4 of their last 6 league games, drawing the other 2 and another win here will almost certainly move them into the top half. Their 10 away games have only yielded 8 points but 4 of those 8 points have come from their last two games on the road, which saw them win 2-1 at Cruzeiro and draw 1-1 at Figueirense.

With both sides in good form, this is a tough match to call and the draw perhaps looks the most likely outcome. The bookies make Botafogo pretty clear favourites but Sport are certainly playing well enough to suggest that they can get something from the game and it should be a lively one with a few goals. Both teams have scored in all of Sport’s last 4 Serie A away games and there have been over 2.5 goals in all of Sport’s last 3 home games in Serie A.

Therefore there looks to be some value in having a flutter on this ending in a 2-2 draw at 14/1.
