Draw

Reason for tip

Only Walsall registered more draws this season than Bradford and Carlisle and they could be set for another at Valley Parade, where Mark Hughes’ men have registered ten.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both sides finished the season with 1-1 draws, Bradford against Leyton Orient and Carlisle against Sutton United. Lightning could strike twice for both teams here, the pair have both been a part of that scoreline on five occasions this season.

Bradford vs Carlisle Predictions

  • Bradford have drawn ten of their 23 home games this season
  • Nine of Carlisle’s last 11 League Two games have ended with under 2.5 goals
  • Five of Bradford’s last six League Two home matches have ended with both sides scoring

Close encounter likely in first leg

Carlisle and Bradford finished the season level on points and there may not be much to separate them in the first leg of this playoff semi-final.

Only one side in the division, Walsall drew more games than this pair, who both finished the season with 16 draws to their name.

In fact these two met at this ground in March and played out a goalless draw. A similarly cagey affair is a real possibility, Carlisle have been solid defensively recently with nine of their last 11 league games going under 2.5 goals.

Stalemate on the cards

Draws have been a particular issue for Bradford at Valley Parade, they have registered ten stalemates on home soil and another one is the selection in this clash.

Carlisle have drawn four of their last six matches and with both teams unlikely to overcommit in this first leg, a return to Brunton Park level looks a real possibility.

Both teams have scored in five of the Bantams’ last six home matches though so correct score backers may want to consider a 1-1 draw.
