      Brazil vs Peru Predictions

Santos midfielder Lucas Lima was the unlikely hero in Argentina as he netted a 2nd half equaliser in only his 3rd start to secure a 1-1 draw for Brazil despite a late sending off for David Luiz.

It was a much needed boost for Dunga who was beginning to feel the pressure after a poor showing at Copa America and a defeat to Chile in their opening World Cup qualifier. They did beat Venezuela convincingly 3-1 in Fortaleza in their next match and this could be a similar type of game.

Also away from the pressure cookers of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the crowd in Salvador are more likely to stick with the Brazilian side for the duration of the game and it is an extremely winnable match they face against an inconsistent Peru side. With Neymar back from suspension and with confidence levels a bit higher, they could win this one relatively comfortably and backing Brazil to win by 2 goals or more looks good value at 10/11.

Peru picked up a crucial 1-0 home win against Paraguay last time out but had lost their opening two games. A 2-0 defeat in Colombia and a 4-3 home defeat to Chile demonstrated their defensive flaws and Brazil could well exploit them here.

Peru have a pitiful return of just 1 point from their last 17 away World Cup qualifiers in a run stretching back over a decade so don’t expect any upsets here.

Brazil haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 12 competitive matches though so an away goal is possible and it might be worth a punt to go for a 3-1 home win at odds of 11/1.
