Brentford vs Brighton Predictions
- Brighton are on a six-game winless run (D2, L4)
- Brentford have won four of their last seven league games.
- The Bees have lost just two of their 13 home Premier League games
Europe in sight for buoyant Bees
Brentford are enjoying a good run of form and have a realistic chance of securing European football this season ahead of the visit of Brighton on Saturday.
Albion are heading in the opposite direction, the visitors have gone six games without a win and manager Fabian Hürzeler finds himself under a bit of pressure amid reports the club have Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna ‘on the radar’ as a potential replacement.
Brentford good value for the win
Brentford have seven points to show from the last nine available and held pacesetters Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in their last home games.
The Bees have won five of their last nine at home, with just one defeat, and at around evens they look a strong bet to overcome Brighton this weekend. Brentford have only lost two home games in the league all season, while the Seagulls are winless in six on their travels in the Premier League and have five defeats in their last eight trips across all competitions.
Brentford did lose 2-1 at Brighton earlier in the season but they have a solid home record in this fixture with two wins and one draw in their last three head-to-head games as hosts.
Bees can record a clean sheet
A key concern for Hürzeler will be Brighton’s misfiring attack as they have now gone three games without scoring after a 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup last time out, after a pair of 1-0 defeats to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
Goals have been an issue for Brighton on the road all season with just 14 scored across their 13 trips. Brentford have hardly been clean sheet specialists this season and they have managed just three so far in the Premier League at home, but two of those have come in their last four home games and this fixture looks like an opportunity for another shut-out.
Brighton may be out-of-form but they haven’t been on the receiving end of many big losses and each of their last four league defeats have been via one goal margins, so a 1-0 win for the Bees has a chance in the correct score market.
Igor Thiago has 17 Premier League goals to his name for Brentford this season and six strikes across his last seven in this competition. The Brazilian was unable to add to his account against Arsenal but he did have six shots in that game, and he can get back among the goals by firing his side to victory on Saturday.
