Bees looking to continue unbeaten start

Brentford may be without suspended striker Ivan Toney but they have enjoyed a strong start to the season regardless and can continue their unbeaten run by seeing off Crystal Palace.

The Bees claimed a 2-2 draw with Spurs at this venue in their curtain-raiser and backed that up with a win at Fulham.

The Eagles won at Sheffield United and then went down 1-0 to Arsenal at home. Palace competed well in that clash with the Gunners but their away form remains a concern and Brentford can make the most of home advantage.

Brentford won 10 of their 19 home league games last season, losing just twice, and look set to be a force on their own patch again this year after holding Spurs to a 2-2 draw in their opener.

Palace won just four away league games last season and all of those victories came against teams who finished in the bottom six, while two were relegated. Roy Hodgson’s men did win at Sheffield United on opening weekend but the promoted Blades are widely expected to struggle themselves.

Both league meetings last season finished 1-1 but Brentford should come into this game in confident mood after a 3-0 win at Fulham, and they can claim another win over a London rival here.

Mbeumo a goal contender

A 2-0 win for Brentford is the correct score selection as the Bees have hit five goals across their two games so far. Palace have been creating opportunities but are lacking a cutting edge and as four of Brentford’s last five home league wins have been accompanied by clean sheets the hosts can win without conceding.

Bryan Mbeumo has made an excellent start to the season with three goals in two games and he will be on penalty duties for Brentford, so he looks the best anytime scorer contender.
