Brentford vs Eastleigh Predictions
This will be a great day for Eastleigh and their fans as they look to make history by making Round 4 for the very first time. Brentford will be looking to avoid an embarrassing upset and should have too much on the day.
The visitors are managed by former Bees boss Martin Allen, so it will be an emotional return to Griffin Park for a man who enjoyed the best of his managerial stints at Brentford. His current team are hovering in mid-table in the National League and have won only 2 of their last 9 league games. However, in the FA Cup, they’ve flourished with a shock win at Swindon in a 1st Round replay before seeing off Halifax also away from home at the second time of asking in the 2nd Round.
Brentford will be a real step up in class though and you have to worry about their defence, which has conceded 2 or more goals in 6 of their last 8 matches. The hosts could be tempted to rest influential top scorer Scott Hogan but strike-partner Lasse Vibe is likely to be given a chance in a game which could offer him a good opportunity to rediscover his goal touch. You can therefore get decent value by backing Vibe to score anytime at 21/20 here.
The Bees have been a bit unpredictable this season, but when things have clicked in an attacking sense, they’ve looked very sharp. That happened last time out when they won 3-1 at Birmingham and they’ve only lost 1 of their last 6 games so their form is strong enough to suggest they will avoid any kind of upset here.
Allen’s Eastleigh are likely to do a bit more than park the bus and are capable of posing one or two problems of their own but the hosts should overpower them in the end and therefore backing Brentford to win & over 2.5 goals at 10/11 looks to offer good value here.
