Brentford vs Leeds Predictions

  • Brentford are unbeaten in their last ten home league games against Leeds.
  • Leeds have lost just one of their last six league matches against Brentford.
  • Three of the previous four meetings between the pair have ended in a draw.

Leeds’ top-flight status hangs in the balance

Leeds United’s hopes of staying in the Premier League will still be alive on the final day of the season, but they know they still need results to go their way this weekend.

Jesse Marsch’s side managed to keep their hopes alive last weekend when they snatched a late draw against Brighton, but that left the door open for both Everton and Burnley. Everton are now safe, but the Clarets are level on points with 18th placed Leeds but boast a superior goal difference.

The Whites know they can stay up if they better Burnley’s result on the final day, but the pressure is bound to play its part.

Brentford proving they are the real deal

The Bees made one of the signings of the season when they snapped up Christian Eriksen on a short-term contract, and his arrival has spearheaded their charge away from the relegation zone.

Thomas Frank’s men can still finish in the top half of the Premier League table if results go their way over the next few days, and as Leeds did 12 months ago, they have enjoyed a fine campaign in the top flight.

Brentford have won three of their previous five games, while at home, they are unbeaten in four, keeping four clean sheets during that time.

Expect a tight affair in the capital

Brentford and Leeds United have got to know each other rather well in recent years, with the two teams fighting it out in the Championship since 2014.

The rivalry has gone up a notch in recent years, but neither side has been able to dominate the fixture during that time.

Since 2016, nothing can split the two sides, with both teams winning three fixtures, while the previous four battles all ended in a draw.

The history book suggests this fixture could be a close affair, with under 2.5 goals landing in eight of the previous ten battles.

Leeds know they cannot afford to let the game get away from them on Sunday, and they have shown an improvement at the back under Marsch against teams outside the top six. A draw may be enough for survival, and both teams should share the points in London on Sunday afternoon.

Brentford predicted lineup: Raya, Ajer, Jansson, Sorensen, Henry, Jensen, Norgaard, Eriksen, Mbuemo, Toney, Wissa

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier, Koch, Llorente, Cooper, Firpo; Klich, Phillips, Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison, Gelhardt
