Brentford vs Manchester United Predictions
- Brentford are unbeaten at home (W1, D2).
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in United’s last three league games.
- Four of the Bees’ five league games have seen at least three goals scored.
United looking to follow up Chelsea win
Manchester United eased the pressure on boss Ruben Amorim with a 2-1 win over Chelsea last time out but they may struggle to follow that up with another three points at Brentford.
The Bees have just four points to show from five games so far but they are unbeaten at home across all competitions, with a win and two draws. Brentford also claimed a memorable 4-3 win over United at this ground in May so there is a temptation to take a risk on backing the hosts as underdogs, but the better angle could be the goals markets.
Over 2.5 goals the pick at the Brentford Community Stadium
Both teams to score is one option as Brentford are yet to draw a blank and have conceded in five of their seven fixtures. United have failed to score twice in games against Manchester City and Arsenal, while both teams have scored in four of their last five games.
Over 2.5 goals offers slightly more value, however, so backing both sides to combine for at least three goals stands out. There have been at least three goals scored in each of United’s last four games across all competitions and in four of Brentford’s five Premier League fixtures.
Spoils could be shared in west London
United should take some confidence from that win over Chelsea as they managed to hold on despite being reduced to 10 men, having held a 2-0 lead for a period after the Blues picked up an early red card themselves. However, the Red Devils are yet to win away this season and they haven’t managed a road win domestically since April – a run stretching eight games.
With Brentford unbeaten at home, the hosts should be able to claim at least a share of the spoils and a 2-2 draw has a chance in the correct score market. Both of these sides have shown defensive weaknesses as the Bees have shipped 10 goals in five league games and United’s backline has been breached eight times so there is the potential for an entertaining and high scoring stalemate in Saturday’s early kick off.
Kevin Schade has had a mixed start to the season but he did score in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at this venue in their last home league game. The German midfielder scored twice in Brentford’s win over United back in May and he looks a contender for an anytime goal on Saturday.
