Brentford vs West Ham United Predictions
- 10 of Brentford’s last 16 games have gone under 2.5 goals
- The Bees have failed to score in four of their last eight matches
- West Ham have drawn five of their 17 road trips
- Bowen has eight league goals this term
Hammers in trouble
West Ham gave their Premier League survival hopes a huge boost with a 2-1 win over Everton last time out, with Callum Wilson’s late winner enough to see them over the line.
Tottenham also won last weekend, meaning that the Hammers maintained their two-point lead over their rivals as the pair scrap it out to avoid the drop.
With four games to go the pressure is really starting to mount and the Hammers have responded well, losing just one of their last eight games in all competitions.
In fact since the start of February, West Ham have only lost two of their last 13 matches and those were defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa.
They look to continue their attempted escape as they visit Brentford on Saturday, with the Bees desperate for a win for very different reasons.
Bees with an eye on Europe
Keith Andrews’ side were predicted to struggle this season but have massively overperformed expectations, they are currently in which a chance of sneaking into a European spot if they have a strong finish to the campaign.
However a run of five league draws on the bounce was brought to an end by a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United last time out and they need to get back to winning ways with Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Liverpool their final three games of the season.
This pair have met twice already this season, with Brentford running out 2-0 winners in the league reverse fixture while the pair put on a dramatic FA Cup fifth-round tie wich saw the Bees battle back to draw 2-2 before losing on penalties.
Andrews’ men will be desperate for revenge for that result and to give their European chances a boost.
Cagey affair likely
However goals have been hard to come by at times for Brentford recently, who have blanked in four of their last eight in the Premier League. In total, ten of the hosts’ last 16 games have gone under 2.5 goals and in what could be an extremely cagey affair given the stakes for West Ham, a repeat of that looks likely.
Only Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have drawn more home games this season than Brentford’s seven and they may have to settle for another point when they host the Hammers in this clash, side with a 1-1 draw for correct score purposes.
Put simply, West Ham would be relegated without Jarrod Bowen, who has eight goals and ten assists for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team this season. Their captain and talisman looks a solid bet to net in this one.
