Middlesbrough to Win

Reason for tip

Middlesbrough have only lost one of their five games this season and they will head to Turf Moor in good spirits after back-to-back 3-1 wins in all competitions. Burnley are winless are in five games inside 90 minutes and should fall short once again.

Middlesbrough 2-1

Reason for tip

Burnley have struggled to contain teams all season so far, having conceded 10 goals in five games. Middlesbrough have netted 10 goals already, but they have only kept one clean sheet, so both teams to score looks good value.

Burnley vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Burnley are winless this season inside 90 minutes in all competitions
  • Middlesbrough have won four of their first five games in all competitions
  • Middlesbrough had the third-best away record in the Championship last season

Clarets’ woes to continue against promotion rivals

Burnley’s winless start to the season continued with a heavy defeat to Norwich last weekend and they are set to struggle once again when Middlesbrough visit Turf Moor on Wednesday.

The Clarets have yet to win under new manager Nicky Hayen and they have also been dumped out of the EFL Cup by Bradford City. Hayen’s team have looked off the pace, with the club struggling to move on from last year’s relegation.

Burnley were considered one of the favourites for promotion at the start of the season, but with confidence low in their camp, high-flying Middlesbrough should take full advantage.

Boro, who were beaten in the playoff final last season by Hull City, have won four of their first five games in all competitions and they have won successive games 3-1.

Burnley’s 4-1 defeat to Norwich last weekend is further evidence that they are struggling at the moment, and Boro should have too much class for them.

The Clarets have scored in four of their five games, though, and should get on the scoresheet against a Boro side that have one clean sheet to their name in five outings.
