Bruised Brighton entertain Bournemouth

Brighton return to domestic action on Sunday with a home game against Bournemouth as they look to bounce back after a disappointing Thursday night in Europe.

The Seagulls slipped to a 3-2 loss at home to Greek outfit AEK in an early blow to their Europa League hopes, having been drawn in a group with heavyweights Ajax and Marseille.

Albion are a short price to win on Sunday and offer little appeal in that respect, particularly with the quick turnaround in fixtures, but another odds-on option does stand out.

Back goals at both ends

Brighton have been an entertaining team for the neutral this season and all six of their fixtures across all competitions have seen goals at both ends.

I’m expecting that pattern to continue when the Cherries arrive at the Amex on Sunday, as both teams have scored in four of their six games and they have managed just one clean sheet themselves.

Brighton can respond

The fact Brighton are coming into the game after a Thursday night fixture is a concern but they will be looking for a response and a home victory does seem the more likely outcome. Roberto De Zerbi’s men have six points to show from three home league games so far, and they were unlucky against AEK after dominating possession and creating more chances.

The Cherries have one point to show from two away games and they have lost three of their last four on the road in the league stretching back into last season. The visitors have scored in all three of their away games in all competitions this season, so a 2-1 win for Brighton looks a reasonable correct score prediction.

Danny Welbeck should come back into the Brighton side after featuring from the bench on Thursday and he could be a contender for a goal after his strike against former side Manchester United last weekend, with Evan Ferguson another option if he is deemed fit to feature after sitting out against AEK.
