Brighton vs Fulham Predictions
This has the makings of a good contest with both teams coming into the match in good form and looking like possible promotion contenders.
That is certainly true of Brighton, but Fulham have displayed some of the qualities required to mount a top six challenge in recent weeks. They’ve started scoring plenty of goals with 14 from their last 6 matches and they do boast the second best away record in the division, so they have enough about them to make this tricky for the Seagulls. It’s only 3 defeats in 15 on the road in the league now overall which is a very strong record but a trip to the Amex is not like an ordinary away game in this league. One of those 3 recent Fulham away defeats was a 5-0 thrashing on this ground last season so their most recent memory of a trip to these parts is not a good one.
Brighton weren’t at their best last Friday when they could only draw 1-1 at home to Aston Villa and they were a little fortunate to even get a point. The main positive to take from the game was another goal for Glenn Murray, who is playing with supreme confidence now and looks a good bet to get his name on the scoresheet here, having bagged 7 goals in Brighton’s last 5 home games. It also maintained their 13 point advantage on Villa, one of the few sides with the sort of quality required to potentially challenge Brighton for a top two finish.
Prior to that match Brighton had been in outstanding form. They are unbeaten in 9 games now, winning 6 of them. They’ve also kept 6 clean sheets over that period and have won 67% of their home games in the Championship this term. They are strong at both ends of the pitch too with an average 2 goals scored per home game and only 0.56 conceded.
They boast the best home record in the division so despite some encouraging recent displays from Fulham, they are likely to find this one much trickier and Brighton’s extra class and consistency over a long period of time in this league ought to see them to maximum points. Given their excellent home record, backing Brighton to win at 10/11 looks to offer value here.
