Bristol City vs Leeds Predictions
Both sides are still looking for their first win of their season. It has been a disappointing start to life in the higher tier for Bristol City and they have lost their opening 2 Championship games either side of a Capital One Cup defeat at lower league Luton Town.
It is all a far cry from last season when City went unbeaten in their final 16 games as they cruised to the League One title with 99 points and 96 goals. They have lost none of their attacking intent and started brightly against Brentford at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Goals from Jonathan Kodjia and Aaron Wilbraham had them 2-1 up inside 25 minutes.
However the game turned in the 35th minute when City’s Luke Freeman saw red and shortly after Derrick Williams fired into his own net to conclude an awful few minutes for the Bristol club.
Brentford scored twice in the 2nd half to win 4-2 but if they can keep all their players on the pitch then City still have every chance of chalking up a first win against Leeds on Wednesday. They are dangerous going forward but have conceded 9 goals in their first 3 games this season so there are defensive concerns for Steve Cotterill.
Leeds might not be the most attacking side in the league but they’re likely to be more positive here than they were in the 0-0 draw at Reading on Sunday. Their best chance in this game will be trying to expose Bristol City’s defensive problems as they look for their first win of the season.
They have drawn all three of their games so far and Uwe Rosler may see this as their best chance for 3 points so far. It’s a big game for both clubs then as they look to banish their early season blues but Bristol City haven’t been as bad as 3 defeats suggest and they might just nick this one under the floodlights at what will be a packed Ashton Gate and are decent value for a 2-1 win at 15/2.
The hosts aren’t looking solid enough at the back to keep a clean sheet though so it’s also worth backing both teams to score at 5/6.
