Charlton vs Norwich Predictions

  • Charlton have won eight of their last 11 games at The Valley (D1, L2).
  • Norwich have lost their last five games and have scored just one goal in their last seven.
  • Premier League survival is Norwich’s priority and they may make a few changes.
  • Charlton have scored exactly two goals in four of their last six home games.

Potential upset on the cards at The Valley

Norwich are having a nightmare season in the Premier League and will be hoping they can stop the rot at League One Charlton in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Canaries briefly picked up after Dean Smith arrival with five points from their first three games under their new boss but their form has nosedived since. Norwich have lost their last five games, conceding 14 goals without scoring themselves during that run, and the Addicks look excellent value to pull off an upset this weekend.

Charlton in fine form at home

Charlton look set for mid-table mediocrity in League One as they are 14 points adrift of the top six and seven clear of danger. The Addicks have found some form of late, however, with five wins in their last seven games and at home they have been in impressive form.

The South East London outfit have eight wins and in their last 11 games at The Valley (D1, L2) and have some momentum going into this cup clash, while Norwich look a team woefully short on confidence and Smith may decide to tinker with his starting XI as attempting to avoid the drop in the Premier League will be their priority.

Charlton have also been strong defensively at home with five clean sheets in their last seven, conceding just twice in total. However, Norwich are clearly a step up in class for the Addicks, despite their current struggles, and may well be able to end their goal drought even if they can’t manage a result so a 2-1 home win could be the way to go in the correct score market. Charlton have scored exactly two goals in four of their last six at home, and keeping a clean sheet against Premier League opposition looks a big ask.
