Reason For Bristol City vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Middlesbrough have conceded just four goals in their first five Championship games.
  • Four of Boro’s last five matches have produced fewer than 2.5 goals.
  • The visitors have lost just one of their first five league matches this term.

Boro to frustrate Robins

Cauley Woodrow’s late penalty for Barnsley at the weekend ended Bristol City’s 100% start to the campaign and The Robins could be held again this coming Tuesday by Neil Warnock’s tenacious Middlesbrough outfit.

Stephen Lansdown’s side looked bang on course for a deserved victory at Oakwell to make it five wins from five and it will be interesting to see how they respond to the setback when the teams line-up at Ashton Gate this week.

It would be a strong indicator that Bristol might be the real deal this season if they come out firing, but either way they could run into a Boro brick wall on Tuesday with Neil Warnock’s charges so far showing the kind of steel and mettle that’s been synonymous with the 71-year-old’s teams down the years.

Following a narrow 1-0 loss to recently relegated Watford on the opening day, Boro are now unbeaten in four after Saturday’s dour 0-0 stalemate against Reading and the visitors should be extremely difficult to break down again here. Warnock’s ways may not be attractive, but they are effective – and his side have conceded just four goals across their five starts to date.

Four of those five games have produced under 2.5 goals and that’s our selection here, with another solid showing from Boro anticipated.

And with little expected to separate the teams, we’re also going for a 1-1 correct score. Boro have conceded once in four of their games, while City have managed to find the net in all five of their Championship matches this term.
