Rovers can regroup and mount a promotion push

Bristol Rovers find themselves in the EFL basement after a dismal end to last season, but they are still capable of making a winning start to life after relegation when they host Harrogate on Saturday.

Rovers have had a couple of months to forget but Darrell Clarke is back at the helm and they should be able to put last season’s misery behind them and make a push for an immediate return.

They should take some solace from the fact nine of their 12 wins last season came on their own patch, and Harrogate did not have much of an away record to shout about in League Two last season.

Harrogate need to improve on the road

Harrogate are heading into their sixth campaign in the Football League having never finished higher than 13th in League Two, and their away form will have to improve if they are to better that this time.

Only relegated Morecambe scored fewer than Harrogate’s total of 17 away goals last season, so they could be up against it.

They may be able to take advantage of any potential nerves in the Rovers defence, so an away goal looks a possibility, but Rovers can come through and earn a 2-1 success.
