Barton still searching for consistency

It is only a couple of weeks since these two teams last met, with a late Anthony Evans penalty earning Bristol Rovers a 1-1 draw at Gander Green Lane in early February.

That started a three game winless run that pretty much encapsulates the Gas’ season, as it has been followed by a defeat to struggling Oldham and a 0-0 stalemate with high flying Mansfield.

Generally speaking, their issues have been defensively. Both teams have scored in 26 of their 32 games since mid-September and eight of their last 11 at the Memorial Ground.

Joey Barton’s side are, however, unbeaten in four at home and have lost just one of their last eight at all venues in the league, showing how tough an assignment their visitors face.

Sutton unbeaten, but not winning

Three draws in a row have seen Sutton slip away from the automatic promotion spots in League Two, but they are still firmly in the play-off positions and head to the South West unbeaten in three on the road.

Matt Gray’s side actually have not lost in 12 matches in all competitions, but they have a tendency to concede too many goals, with both teams scoring in seven of those fixtures.

On the road, both teams have scored in seven of their last ten, but they themselves have netted in ten successive League Two away trips.
