      Bromley vs Peterborough Predictions

Bromley had begun to flounder; they lost away against Boreham Wood and then fell at home to Braintree, conceding four goals in the process, though Saturday’s hosts bounced back to beat Hartlepool by four goals to nil last time out, so they ought to approach this fixture in confident mood.

The hosts are operating two divisions below Peterborough, who are one of the better footballing sides in League One, though they’re unlikely to show much fear, especially on their own patch. For starters, it’s not as if Peterborough are one of the Football League’s better defensive sides, while the hosts have made an excellent habit of scoring goals at Hayes Lane of late, a habit which should hold them in good stead on Saturday.

In the National League this season, when plying their trade in front of a home crowd, Bromley have done an excellent job of making headway in the final third. Saturday’s hosts have failed to score in just two of their home matches, while they’ve scored at least twice in six of the other eight. What’s more, Neil Smith’s men are averaging an impressive 1.87 expected goals for at home. They have conceded plenty at the other end, which doesn’t exactly suggest that they’ll defend too well against a Peterborough side that can be rampant, but they can certainly compete going forward.

As the League One side, Peterborough will certainly fancy themselves on Saturday, though they will be wary of the threat posed by a Bromley side that has been free-scoring at home. Moreover, Posh haven’t exactly been infallible of late. The visitors lost away at Wycombe last time out, while they’ve been guilty of giving plenty away on their travels during the current campaign, as the fact that they’re averaging 1.58 expected goals against suggests.

Fortunately, Steve Evans men have the attacking quality to make up for what they lack at the other end. On their travels in the third-tier this season, Posh have been free-scoring with 23 goals in just nine matches. They’ve failed to find the net in just one of those nine, while they’re averaging 1.71 expected goals on their travels.

From a betting point of view, it’s easy to fancy goals in this fixture. According to both goals scored and the underlying stats, Bromley are one of the better attacking teams in the National League, while Peterborough are one of the better attacking teams on the road in League One. Add in the fact that neither are great at the back, coupled with the fact that there’s been an average of 3.33 expected goals in Bromley’s home games and an average of 3.29 in Peterborough’s away games, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’, which has yielded a profit in six of the visitors’ away games during the current campaign, stands out as a viable bet.
