Bromley vs Torquay Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in four of Torquay’s five National League away games this season.
  • Bromley have scored 13 home goals in five matches this term.
  • Torquay won 2-1 at Bromley last season.

Torquay and Bromley to turn it on for TV cameras

Bromley and Torquay were separated by 11 points and five places in 2020-21 as the Gulls just missed out on automatic promotion in second.

Gary Johnson’s side have already lost five times this season and cannot afford too many more slip-ups if they are to give themselves any chance of claiming the automatic berth.

So Saturday’s trip to Bromley, that follows their midweek defeat at Boreham Wood, looks like a huge game in the context of their season and – with the TV cameras there to see it – one they can make a big statement in.

Torquay started well and were on top for long spells against Boreham Wood, but failed to score.

The Gulls needed late ‘Gary time’ goals to salvage a draw at Chesterfield on their previous away trip and results on the road have generally eluded them so far this term.

Bromley’s results at home have been superb with 12 points taken from a possible 15 to date and 13 goals scored.

They come into this on the back of four straight wins where their pressing and counter-attacking has unsettled teams and have, in Michael Cheek, an in-form striker to put chances away.

Yet we feel Torquay could pull off a victory if everything clicks as well as it did in their recent 5-0 home thrashing of Wealdstone.

Both teams to score looks a safe haven in comparison to the trappy 90 minutes betting with Torquay’s ability to reply late in games likely to be a big factor when up against a side that have been so impressive at home.

The last four home draws for Bromley all finished 2-2, as have two of the last three Torquay away draws so that’s going to be our correct score prediction for Saturday’s game too.
