Reason For Burnley vs Leicester City Predictions

  • Burnley have lost four of their last five Premier League home matches.
  • Leicester have won six of their last seven away games in the top flight, and have only dropped points away to fellow top five sides this season.
  • The Clarets have failed to score in 60% of their home games against top half opposition this season and have conceded 1.55 goals per home game.
  • Leicester have kept a clean sheet in 60% of their trips to bottom half opponents this term, scoring 2.45 goals per game.

Clarets slip dangerous close to Premier League drop zone

Burnley began the 2019/20 Premier League campaign by losing just two of their opening eight games, but things have taken a disappointing turn for the worse since those autumnal days.

In fact, The Clarets 3-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend made it four defeats on the bounce for Sean Dyche’s men, and they have lost seven of their last nine in the competition. This has seen them slip dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone, and they are now just three points above 18th placed Aston Villa.

A very poor recent home record hasn’t helped the situation either. They have lost four of their last five Premier League matches at Turf Moor, and they have lost all five of their home games against teams in the top half of the division this season.

Leicester look for resurgence after difficult festive run

This will be music to Brendan Rodgers’ ears, because he finds his Leicester side in need of a bit of a resurgence. The Foxes have slipped a bit in the last month, winning just two of their last six league matches after an emphatic eight game winning streak.

That being said, they still find themselves flying high in 3rd position in the Premier League and have a massive 11 point cushion before dropping out of the top four. Additionally, two of their three recent defeats came at the hands of Liverpool and Manchester City, so they’re still a very capable team.

Leicester’s away record shows this – they have won six of their last seven trips away in the league, and their only failures to win on the road have come against teams in the current top five.

Signs point towards away victory on Sunday

The signs certainly don’t look promising from a Burnley point of view here, and to make matters worse they have a pretty terrible record against Leicester, winning just two of their nine Premier League meetings with the Foxes. All things considered, we think a Leicester Win looks good value for money on Sunday.

We’re expecting another clean sheet for the visitors too. Three of their five trips to teams in the bottom half have resulted in clean sheets this term, while Burnley have failed to score in three of their five home matches against top half teams. The Clarets have conceded an average of 1.55 goals per home game too, and with Leicester scoring 2.45 goals per away game we like the look of a 2-0 correct score prediction.
