We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Peterborough 1-0 @ 17/2

Reason For Burton Albion vs Peterborough Predictions

  • Burton have League 1’s joint-best defensive record at home, conceding just 11 goals.
  • Only two League 1 teams have conceded fewer home goals per 90 than Burton this season.
  • Less than three goals have been scored in each of Burton’s six home matches against teams that currently reside in the top half.
  • Burton have failed to find the net in four of their six matches against top-half opposition.

Brewers tough to beat at home

Marooned mid-table, Burton remain a tricky team to face, even for some of the better League 1 sides. The Brewers are anything but easy to catch right, inconsistency seems to be their only constant, but plenty of teams have found it tough to take on the Brewers at Pirelli Stadium. Since the turn of the year, Fleetwood, Gillingham and Oxford, all of whom are in the top ten, have failed to win at this venue, while only one of those three got on the scoresheet.

Burton don’t have an amazing record against top-half teams at home this season, winning one, drawing three and losing two, but none of the big boys have made light work of getting a result at Pirelli Stadium. Interestingly, only one of the top half teams to visit this venue has scored more than once, while none have won by more than a single goal. What is also interesting is that less than three match goals were scored in each of Burton’s six games against sides that are currently in the top six.

Posh poised

Peterborough came crashing back down to earth last time out by losing for the first time since the middle of January, though we shouldn’t judge them too harshly for that. After all, that was the first game in seven that they’ve not won, while they only lost by the narrowest of margins away against a fellow play-off chaser.

All in all, Posh remain in good shape, though some of their form suggests that this won’t be an easy game. Away against top-half teams, Peterborough haven’t exactly thrived in terms of results this term, winning just two out of eight. That said, they recently thrashed Ipswich, who recently gave Burton a beating, on the road, so Darren Ferguson’s men will probably fancy themselves.

Lack of goals incoming?

When Peterborough are in town, goals are usually guaranteed, or at least they have been in recent times. However, given the home side, ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ is a bet that catches the eye. For all Posh are one of the best attacking teams in the division, if not the best, Burton have made a habit of keeping the goals to a minimum against top teams. The Brewers have failed to score in four of their six home matches against teams that currently reside in the top half, while each of those six games have seen less than three goals in. What’s more, the Brewers have only conceded more than once in one out of six against teams of Peterborough’s ilk.
