Bury vs Cheltenham Predictions
With barely enough time passed for the players to get their breath back from the weekend’s action, they are straight back into the swing of things on Tuesday evening as they look to right their wrongs and add another three points to their tally. It promises to be an action filled night at Gigg Lane as in-form Bury welcome a resurgent Cheltenham Town in a battle which has consequences at both ends of League Two.
High-scoring Bury may have been held to a 2-2 draw at the weekend, but they won their previous three league games on the bounce and were also comfortable 5-0 victors of non-league Dover in the first round of the FA Cup. Their goalscoring powers has been a major part of the threat they carry and with 18 goals in their previous five outings, it should come as a shock to nobody to learn that they top the League Two scoring charts.
If Bury are going to keep this impressive run going then their main scorers are going to have to maintain their current form. James O’Shea, the 30-years-old midfielder from the Republic of Ireland, has been particularly impressive of late and his five goals in his previous four outings leads us to believe that backing him to score anytime against Cheltenham on Tuesday evening represents an excellent opportunity for a decent return.
Making the trip to Gigg Lane is a Cheltenham Town side who appear to be at the peak of their powers at the moment and, even though they were widely expected to be in a fight to retain their spot in the Football League this season, if this spell continues then they will be setting their heights a bit higher. The Robins are not normally known for being high scorers but six of their previous seven outings have seen them score at least two goals in the game, a factor which is clearly key in their recent resurgence.
With both of these sides enjoying excellent goalscoring spells at the moment, we think that this could be a game which focuses on attack more than defence. When you also consider that both teams have scored in four of the previous five meetings between the sides, then we think that backing both teams to score once again is the way to go in this fixture.
