Minnows Guadeloupe unlikely to trouble Canucks

Canada open their Gold Cup campaign on Tuesday as they face Guadeloupe in Toronto.

The Canucks are among the favourites to take the title and they should been able to record a victory in their tournament opener.

Canada can win without conceding

Canada enjoyed a strong run in the CONCACAF Nations League and made it all the way through to the final, where they lost out to USA.

This is perhaps the best Canada side for some time after they reached the World Cup for just the second time in their history last year, and they should be able to win fairly comfortably on Tuesday night.

When Canada win they usually do so without conceding and two of their last three victories have been to nil, while Guadeloupe have failed to score in five of their last six losses.

Lucas Cavallini has 18 goals in 36 appearances for Canada and he appeals as a potential scorer. Canada are without Jonathan David and Cyle Larin for the tournament, and Cavallini can impress in their absences.

Canada have recorded a few big wins over the last year or so having beaten Jamaica 4-0 in World Cup qualifying last year, as well as claiming 4-0 and 4-1 wins over Curacao and Honduras in the Nations League, so a 4-0 win for the co-hosts is the correct score bet.
