Carlisle’s stunning recovery

When Paul Simpson returned to Brunton Park last month, Carlisle looked dead and buried, but they have won four games in a row and pulled nine points clear of the relegation zone.

They have failed to keep clean sheets in the most recent two of those matches though, and in fact have conceded in all bar two of their last ten outings.

Their record against teams at the top end of the table is not great, but their last home match was a last gasp win over promotion chasing Northampton, so there is no reason to think they cannot extend their unbeaten run.

Newport pushing for top three

Newport County head into this fixture in third place in League Two and they are in fact unbeaten in six games, winning the last two.

The Exiles do have a bit of a problem defensively on the road though, conceding 24 times in 18 away fixtures and keeping just three clean sheets in their last 17 on their travels.

Both teams have scored in four of their last six games and I think a repeat could be on the cards in this fixture.
