Switzerland vs Slovenia Predictions
Qualification for Euro 2016 is still achievable for both Switzerland and Slovenia as they enter a crucial match-up on Saturday evening. Slovenia got the better of the match-up in the first game between these two sides, winning 1-0 at home, but it is the Swiss who currently own a three-point advantage in the group standings.
After losing their opening two games in group play, Switzerland have played a more positive and more impressive brand of football. They beat San Marino, Estonia and Lithuania by a combined 11-0 scoreline and then travelled to beat the later again in their most recent contest. Still, they’re back in the tricky portion of their schedule, with a trip to face England subsequent to this game.
Slovenia beat Switzerland and gave England a pretty good test before losing 3-2 in their most recent game, but they’ve ultimately been held back by a poor opening away defeat to Estonia. They’ve got attacking talent and some good build up play potential, but for some reason they were completely stunted in that contest. A defeat in this game would make it almost impossible for Slovenia to qualify any other way than through the challenging third place playoff.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Switzerland’s approach
At times, Switzerland are guilty of not producing their best football against better teams because they go into their shell. They look a lot less impressive when that happens and we’re concerned that that approach will make an appearance on Saturday night.
2. Slovenia’s performance against England
Without becoming too guilty of being victim of their last game, Slovenia showed against England that they are a good side, with scrap and some good attacking players. We expect them to give this game a go and that often comes with rewards.
3. Playing the odds
A +1.0 Asian Handicap will be a push if Switzerland steal one goal, but the odds are pretty good for any other circumstance, including a battling draw or Slovenia win. We don’t expect Switzerland to win, but we definitely don’t expect it to be by more than one-goal.
