Reason For Celtic vs Hamilton Predictions

  • Celtic go in search of an 11th straight victory in all competitions.
  • Hamilton have never beaten Celtic and are without a point in this fixture since 2011.
  • Celtic are yet to taste defeat at home this term, winning 11 of 12 at Celtic Park.

Home comforts suit the hosts

Unsurprisingly, Celtic are enjoying a pleasing season. Neil Lennon’s men have got company at the top of the table, though they continue to do the business, winning game after game. Wednesday’s hosts come into this match having won each of their last six league matches, scoring a whopping 22 goals in the process.

When playing in front of an expectant home crowd, Celtic have been particularly rampant, winning seven in seven, scoring 27 and conceding just two. Lennon’s men are yet to play a game at home without scoring at least twice, while they’ve now kept four clean sheets on the bounce at Celtic Park. Going forward, alongside Rangers, the Hoops are simply streets ahead of all other teams in terms of attacking quality; but they’re also vastly superior at the back too. Celtic have conceded an average of just 0.29 goals at home, they’ve given away very few clearcut chances and have surrendered an average of only 1.29 shots on target.

Hamilton fighting for survival

While Celtic are fighting for yet another title, Hamilton, just as they did last term, are fighting for survival. Wednesday’s visitors are three places from the bottom, though they’re just a point off sitting below everyone else.

They’ve not exactly thrived on home soil, but Hamilton have struggled big time on the road, winning none of their seven travelling matches. On a slightly more positive note, Brian Rice’s men have drawn more than they’ve lost away from home. That said, their results don’t exactly point towards them doing well against a side of Celtic’s quality. Hamilton have either drawn or lost away against Ross County, St. Johnstone, Hearts and Livingston, all of whom currently reside in the bottom six.

Hosts can demolish their lesser visitors

Hamilton have sometimes competed on the road, drawing four out of seven, though they’ve come up considerably short when facing the top teams. Not only did they lose by five goals to nil away at Rangers, shipping 26 shots in the process, they’ve now conceded at least three goals in five of their last six against the big two, each of which they’ve lost. They’ve scored in just one of those six.

Combine this with Celtic’s impressive attacking efforts at home, where they’ve scored three or more in five out of seven, and ‘Celtic -2 Handicap’ holds strong appeal in the betting.

‘Correct Score’ players can try a 4-0 win for the hosts, who average 3.86 goals at home this term. Hamilton have failed to score in four out of seven on the road, while they’ve not scored on either of their last two visits to Celtic Park.
