Celtic vs Molde Predictions
Europe hasn’t been kind to Celtic so far this season. They were eliminated from the Champions League in the playoff round by Malmo, relegating them to the Europa League.
They haven’t been much better in that competition either though, with two draws and a loss leaving them at the bottom of Europa League Group A at the halfway point in the group.
Their two opening matches against Ajax and Fenerbahce both ended as 2-2 draws, and they fell to a dismal 3-1 defeat to Molde a few weeks ago.
Their form overall is looking pretty good though. They have won five of their last six games in all competitions, with only that loss to Molde marring their record.
Molde aren’t looking too bad themselves though. They have won all of their last five matches in all competitions and seven of their last ten games.
Their European campaign has seen them win against Celtic and Fenerbahce, both 3-1, and draw at home to Ajax.
This puts them at the top of Group A after three games. Fenerbahce are their closest rivals with four points in comparison to Molde’s seven, and barring a five goal turnaround in goal difference Molde will remain at the top of the group no matter what the results are on Thursday.
Celtic were well and truly beaten in Norway in the last match, and with fan favourite Ole Gunnar Solksjaer back at the helm the players will be raring to go on Thursday.
Make no mistake, it will be a difficult game at Celtic Park, but the bookies are vastly underestimating Molde’s chances. Odds of 6/4 for a Molde Win or Draw Double Chance look too good to ignore, so I’m backing that along with a 2-2 draw at equally excellent odds of 14/1.
