Bhoys can seal spot in knockout stages

Celtic are on the cut off line in the Europa League with one game to go as they sit 24th in the 36-team standings and victory would guarantee them a place in the knockout phase playoffs.

The Bhoys pulled off a great draw in Bologna last week to keep their Europa League qualification hopes alive and they should have too much quality for Utrecht, who have nothing but pride to play for.

The Eredivisie outfit have had a miserable time of things in Europe, picking up only one point from seven games and scoring just three goals.

Utrecht continue to underwhelm

Utrecht have lost their last five matches and they suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Genk in the Europa League last week.

The visitors have been beaten on European trips to Betis, Brann and Freiburg which means that they have lost seven of their 11 away games since the start of September.

Celtic would have been disappointed to concede a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw away at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, a result which leaves them six points off the title pace.

But Martin O’Neill reappointment as interim boss has certainly sparked a revival, with them five games unbeaten and having won three games to nil before draws with Bologna and Hearts.

Another win and clean sheet could follow against Utrecht, who have failed to score in their last two defeats to Genk and Sparta Rotterdam, with 2-0 the favoured margin of victory.
