Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar Predictions
Central Coast Mariners fell to defeat yet again last weekend as Wellington Phoenix beat them 3-0. This made it three losses in their last five games and leaves them 9th in the table with just nine points from their first ten Hyundai A-League games.
This is still an improvement on their dreadful showing last season which saw them pick up just 13 points in the entire season, but at the moment it’s not looking like they have the capabilities to push on and make it into the playoffs.
Central Coast Mariners’ defence is where the main issue lies. The three goals conceded last weekend made it 20 for the season, making them the worst defensive side in the league. They have only netted ten at the other end as well, which is the 3rd worst total.
Brisbane Roar are having a fairly steady season on the whole, but last weekend they kicked it up a gear as they hammered Adelaide United 4-0 at home to extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches. The previous four of these matches did all end 1-1, but that comprehensive victory will have instilled some confidence in the visitors.
Their difficulty to beat this season lands them in 4th position in the A-League, although they are already seven points adrift of the leaders Sydney FC after their tremendous start to the season.
Jamie Maclaren has been the standout performer for Brisbane Roar so far this season. He has notched five league goals in nine appearances and has scored in each of his last three appearances. Backing him to score anytime at 4/5 looks a good option for our goalscorer predictions.
Admittedly Brisbane Roar haven’t been the best side away from home this season, but they have already managed to beat Central Coast Mariners on the road and are facing a side who have lost three of their four home games this term.
The visitors have also won each of their last seven meetings with Central Coast Mariners, so backing a Brisbane Roar Win at 4/6 looks a good option here. I’m also going for a 2-0 correct score predictions at 8/1
